  1,070,000 pixel CCD that sets the new standard in image detail and clarity with a video resolution of up to 520 horizontal lines. The Megapixel CCD also provides impressive still image quality (up to XGA / 1152 x 864 pixels) that is ideal for print or Internet applications.

The 1152 x 864 still image obtainable from a Sony Mega Handycam Camcorder is up to quality print standards, and of far greater quality and definition than the typical VGA 640 x 480 pixel image offered by most other DV Camcorders.
• 10x Optical / 120x Digital Zoom
  The powerful optical zoom uses physical manipulation of the lens’ focal length to put you 10x closer to your subject than when shooting in the wide angle position, with no loss of image quality. Additional digital zoom then lets you increase what you’re able to see by enlarging the image a further 12x on the CCD.
• Carl Zeiss Lens
  Professional-grade precision glass optics providing exceptional detail and clarity while also reducing non-desirable effects such as flaring and ghosting. Carl Zeiss lenses are synonymous with top performance and smooth operation.
• i.Link (DV - In/Out)
  Allows high speed, bi-directional digital exchange between any two devices equipped with i.LINK interfaces. Sony’s i.LINK camcorders provide simple, reliable and high-speed connection to editing equipment, capture cards, PCs and printers. Digital-to-digital connection lets you transfer large amounts of A/V information at high-speed with no loss in quality. Digital-in function makes it possible to edit in clips from other digital footage, directly on the camera.
• Automatic Pop-up Flash
  When your camcorder detects insufficient levels of ambient light, the automatic pop-up flash is triggered to ensure illumination is keep at an optimum.
• Hologram AF
  Hologram Auto Focus (AF) technology provides superior focussing when shooting in the dark or if your subject contrasts weakly against its background. When the shutter release is pressed halfway down a laser fires which set perfect focus by detecting the edges of your subject. Hologram Auto Focus is particularly effective with more distant subjects, up to a range of 5 metres.
• Analouge In/Out
  Increasing your creative possibilities, analogue in/out makes it possible to connect your camcorder to a range of analogue devices. Once connected you’re able to edit sounds and images between the two and produce original films with a personal touch. Also lets you preserve your analogue library by copying it onto a digital format.
• 14 Bits DXP
  Sony’s newly developed 14-bit, DXP (Digital Extended Processor) A/D converter provides a new peak in image definition. Digital conversion is a vital step in obtaining a digital image and, by increasing the signal to 14-bit, Sony has managed to achieve a more accurate conversion than ever before. This produces a better signal to noise ratio and results in more vivid capture of both light and dark images, while also rendering a more detailed and clearer picture.

  The LCD screen not only lets you watch the action, but also helps you to set the controls of your camcorder. Only the lightest of touches are needed on the super sensitive, reactive screen.
• 2.5" Color LCD / 210K Viewfinder
  Provides excellent viewing clarity with improved resolutionmaking images ultimately sharp and detailed during playback or when monitoring recording. Swivel function (270 degrees rotation) allows you to see your subjects and your shot at the same time, from virtually any angle. Mirror function allows subjects to see themselves in LCD while you direct from the viewfinder. And by using 210k pixel viewfinder, a full clear view of video subjects with fine detail and full clarity is guaranteed.
• Advanced 'HAD' CCD Technology
  High quality Advanced HAD design CCD imager that reduces noise in the video signal to improve signal-to-noise ratio by up to 6db (2x better than a standard CCD). Particularly effective when shooting in dark situations.
